Hugo Carey set up Carey Contemporary in July 2004 when he first showed Mark Lumley's sculpture at the Troubadour Art Gallery in London, July 2004.
Such was the success of Mark Lumley's first show at the Troubadour that by December of the same year, Hugo Carey was ready to curate another exhibition in the same space. On this occasion he combined the work of a further seven artists who had approached him to sell their work.
Carey Contemporary has grown organically since then and continues to thrive with the influx of new artists.
